Success in irrigation in salty water in Tunisia

 

Our customer "Délices du Sud" in the Gabés area in southern Tunisia uses geothermic sourced water with high electrical conductivity (8) to irrigate its tomato greenhouse.

Our customer had the choice of installing a reverse osmosis system with high energy and water consumption and high maintenance cost or ,for a third of the acquisition cost, an Aqua-4D® which carries no maintenance costs.

The result after a year of use is an increase of production yields(net reduction of damaged fruit) and a reduction of 30% of fertilizers consumption .Although the salinity of the water has not changed our customer has proven that the plants absorbs less salt during the irrigation process when treated with Aqua-4D® systems.

Tests done by the same customer with other vegetables such as green beans has shown that burns due to water salinity have totally disappeared with the Aqua-4D® treatment and yields have increased with less production losses.

This is excellent news for the Mediterranean Basin where salinity in water is increasing year by year and the Aqua-4D® water treatment system is a very cost effective system to overcome the problem compared to RO.
