Study of the influence of our physical water treatment on the elimination of scaling and the prevention of scaling and corrosion

Context of the study

In September 2008, a test agreement was concluded between the Federal Office from Sport (OFSPO) at Macolin (Swiss) and Planet Horizons Technologies (PHT) in which it was agreed that the physical water treatment technology Aqua-4D® would be installed in a house of lodging of sportsmen (Berner Haus) at Macolin.

 

The aim of the study is to follow the evolution of scaling and corrosion in the water pipelines of the house after the installation of Aqua-4D® technology.

Test protocol

The evolution of scaling and corrosion are tracked using a control tube envisaged to this end.

 

The control tube is assembled, between two valves in a manner to be easily dismounted and inspected, on the hot water pipe after the boiler. The control tube is made up in two parts: a section made up of a piece of the existing pipe (galvanized steel), lime scaled and partly corroded, and a section made up a piece of new pipe (stainless steel). Each section is approximately 50 cm length.

 

The control tube is assembled on a place (on hot water) where lime-scaling risks are the highest (high temperature of water) in the building. This place is granted as representative of the state of piping in all the building. A good effectiveness of Aqua-4D® technology at this place lets suppose an effectiveness in all piping.

 

It was agreed to observe the results obtained with the Aqua-4D® technology after 6 months of operation by dismounting and inspecting the control tube.

Planning

The physical water treatment Aqua-4D® provided by PHT was installed on 28.11.2008. The first examination of piping was carried out on 21.04.2009, that is to say approximately 5 months after the installation of technology AQUA-4D®.

This visual examination was carried out by dismounting the control tube. Plumber in the presence of representatives of the OFSPO and PHT carried out disassembling.

Conclusion

The inspection carried out after 5 months of operation of the system of treatment of water Aqua-4D®, showed that:

  • The section of the control tube made up of existing piping was practically entirely descaled.
  • A layer of passivation (effect anti corrosion) started to settle on galvanized steel pipe of the control tube.
  • No trace of scaling was noted on the section of the control tube made of stainless steel.

The photographs taken during the inspection show clearly that the treatment Aqua-4D® had an unquestionable action in the descaling and the prevention of scaling and corrosion on internal surfaces of piping.

 

Treatment Aqua-4D® acts until the complete elimination of the lime (curative effect) and then in a permanent way to prevent that it is reformed again (preventive effect). The pipes remain thus permanently without lime.

 

It should be noted that system Aqua-4D® is very easy to install and does not require any maintenance. It does not modify the chemical composition of water, does not use chemicals, does not have rejections and has very low power consumption.
